Need Repair from Water Damage?Your device is wet and you are trying not to panic.
What should you do? The first thing is to dry it off. Remove the Sim card and dry that off, too. Use a microfiber towel if you have one and try to get into the ports and dry them as well. Next, get a ziplock type bag big enough to hold your device and several cups of uncooked rice. Also, gather up any dessicant packages you might have. They are often found inside new shoe boxes, new purses and vitamin and pill bottles. Before you insert your device into the bag, power it off. Unless, it was in airplane mode when you got it wet. You don't want it coming on otherwise. Now, put the device into the bag. Add the dessicant packages and the rice so that it is completely covered. Seal tightly and leave it for at least 48 hours. After removing it from the bag, wipe the device down again. Rice kernels may be stuck in the ports and there will probably be "rice dust" residuce. Now, power it back up and see how it works. Hopefully, if you got to it in time, there were no short circuits and the device may have fully recovered. If there are streaks on the screen or anything seems to be malfunctioning, you should immediately find a screen repair technician. He or she can best determine if the device is still salvageable or not. And there is alot the technician can still do. He can remove the battery and check deeper internally into the device to ascertain where water damange has occured. Then, he can further advise you about next steps to repair or replace the device.
